  • Is Airbrush Spray Tanning Safe?
There are no known harmful side effects reported with the use of self-tanners containing DHA. It has been FDA approved for over thirty years and used for decades. It is certainly the safest way to enjoy a tan without the harm that the sun or tanning beds cause.
  • What is DHA?
(DHA) is a type of sugar, that when applied to the skin, causes a natural chemical reaction with your amino acids to produce a tan without exposing you to the harmful UV radiation of the sun. The process does not cause an increased production of melanin; therefore it is not comparable to a tan from sun exposure. Don’t be misled that you will receive the exact same result from an airbrush as you would UV sun exposure. You will, however, receive a tan that is both beautiful and good for your skin
  • Will I Look Orange?
NO! Blushed and Bronzed has worked very hard to provide a solution that not only colors your skin a gorgeous natural color, but offers an anti-aging Vitamin A,C,E, complex and firming ingredients to help slow the signs of aging. Everyone feels better with an even skin tone and a healthy glow. Airbrush Spray tan provides you with the ability to minimize these flaws while maximizing tone and definition. "If you can't tone it, tan it!"
  • I'm worried what you will think of my body. Are you looking?
ABSOLUTLEY NOT! Although stepping into an Airbursh tent can be intimidating, a level of professionalism exists, and we are far more concerned with how the application is being applied and where. When creating a flawless airbrush tan, we are focused on the solution, air flow, and perfect lines. As difficult as is might seem, your body is not what we are concentrating on.
  • How Long Will The Application Last? How Do I Maintain My Tan?
With one application, the tan naturally fades in around 5-10 days (it varies, depending on how fast your skin exfoliates, whether you exercise every day, the natural moisture in your skin, and whether you will be in water, ect). Following a good skin care regimen before and after sunless tanning will help the tan last longer. Using Tahitian Tan Extender will both keep you moisturized and extend the color of your Blushed and Bronzed tan. You should apply moisturizer MORNING and EVENING (and after you shower); this is one of the most important steps to keep your color from fading. Be aware, these are quality products and need only a light application. Also, take quick, warm showers; avoid long, hot baths; gently towel dry, blot the skin lightly. MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE! Avoid anything that exfoliates the skin, including alpha hydroxyl and glycolic creams. Dry, flaky skin will slough off faster and color will fade sooner. If you are using exfoliating creams, use Tahitian Tan Extender or Mist to give you face the color it needs. The very BEST way to maintain you tan is by using Tahitian Tan Extender for you body and Mist for your face.
  • What Should I Do To Prepare For My Airbrush Spray Tan?
-Please come with exfoliated skin. You will be MUCH happier with your tan if your skin is exfoliated and free of dry skin and patchy spots! Be careful when choosing an exfoliant. Many are harsh and can be too abrasive for your skin. The South Seas exfoliant is PH balanced for your skin as free of oils. Exfoliating with a gentle scrub gives you a clean canvas without leaving any oil that will block your tan. -It is also best to shave or wax the day before your airbrush. -Come with clean, dry skin. It is best not to have any makeup, deodorant, and lotions prior to your tan. It is easy to go lotion-free for the day, but makeup and deodorant not so much, so if a shower right before your tan isn't possible, I have wipes you can use to wipe these items off with.
  • What Can I Expect At The Appointment?
-You can plan on 20-25 min for your service. After filling out a consent form and informing me of the color you are looking for. -Your tan is about YOU. You will dress down to YOUR comfort level! Wear nothing or wear your undies, swimsuit- whatever! If you do bring your own undergarments to wear, it is best to tan in darker colors. While the solution washes out of clothing and fabrics, it is still best to go with dark colors so nothing rubs off onto your clothes. I also have disposable bras and panties if you choose to wear them. -Men (must be over 18) and are required to wear bottoms. They must bring another female (over the age of 18) with them that will be in the room while you are receiving your tan. -Wear loose fitting clothing to go home in. This will prevent any rubbing or chafing.
  • What Should I Do After The Service?
-In order for your airbrush tan to "set", you will need to refrain from getting wet or anything that promotes perspiration for 8-10 hours (or 2-4 hours of using the rapid process solution) after your tan. If you are going to bed before your first shower after the tan, dress in darker colors (long sleeves and pants are best) and cover your pillow with a towel to prevent any discoloration on your sheets. Again, it will wash out of fabrics, but it is just best to air on the side of caution. -It takes 8-10 hours for the DHA to set with your skin and for your tan to really show up. When getting your airbrush, the immediate color you see is actually a washable bronzer! This is why it is CRUCIAL to remain dry for 8-10 hours in order to prevent streaking. This bronzer will rinse right off in the shower and your gorgeous tan will be under that! It is completely normal to see the bronzer rinsing off of you during that first shower after your tan. Don't panic if you see a brown color dripping into your shower drain. This is supposed to happen! -After showering (while having your lovely tan), pay dry with a towel. Do not RUB! -To slow down the exfoliation process on your skin, and for your tan to last even longer, it is recommended you moisturize daily with a basic lotion that is fragrance and alcohol-free. I HIGHLY recommend using South Seas tan extender lotion to deposit a small amount of color or the Peta Jane at home Airbrush Spray (aerosol spray) to touch up areas that have faded and need refreshing. These will extend the life of your tan and make fading natural and gradual! -I guarantee my work within 24 hours. If there is an area or a spot that you need fixing within the first day, I am happy to do my very best to blend and fix that area. I want you to LOVE it!
  • What About Exercise?
Blushed and Bronzed suggests refraining from exercise for at least 9-12 hrs. to avoid compromising your application and color. Excessive perspiration can hinder the tanning process and lessen the final result. Make sure you rinse off before exercising so you don't have any surface color rub off on your clothing. You may experience some color on your clothing due to perspiring throughout the life of your tan.
  • How Is This Method Different From Spray Tanning Booths?
Spray tanning in a booth is much like a hairspray pump that pushes solution without air. Some use shower heads allowing color to be sprayed downward only, creating areas that are missed or hard to get. Being sprayed by a machine can cause streaks and an uneven application. Airbrush spray tans allow for a more personalized and precise application of solution. Because the solution is mixed wit air, it delivers a very fine mist that looks much more even and natural. A good tech can add more solution to areas where the sun would naturally touch. There will be no "missed" spots or uneven areas that can occur otherwise, because the solution application is monitored and controlled by you own personal tan tech. Blushed and Bronzed solution is also formulated to work with your individual skin tone giving you the best sunless tan your skin can have.
  • What About My Furniture, Sheets, and Clothes? "
A little color may rub off, but it does wash out. We suggest wearing pajamas or sweats and putting a towel on your pillowcase if you are worried. Do not sit directly on leather or light fabric seats after your service (sit on towel or cloth instead) until after you take your first shower.
  • What Should I Do Before My Next Airbrush Tan?
If you want to start completely over on fresh even skin, you will want to soak for 15-20 minutes in a hot bath and exfoliate with an Exfoliating Scrub at least one day before your new application.
